Our wick dippers extinguish the candle by coating and sealing the wick with wax. This helps to prevent the wick from smoking and creating a mess when the candle is extinguished.  At the end of each burn, simply 'snuff' the wick by using the small end of the dipper to press the burning wick into the melted wax. Once the flame is  extinguished, lift the wick and allow it to cool before re-lighting. This can help to improve the performance of the candle and make it burn more efficiently.
